 Integrated Bodywork and Movement Therapy

masterson-method.jpg

I work with a variety of therapies including Masterson Method, Feldenkrais-inspired Debono Moves, Cranio-Sacral Therapy and Innate Botanical Selections. My approach is to encourage the horse to guide the focus of the therapy, actively participating and seeking the comfort of tension release and new movement possibilities. In this way, the horse is not braced against the change and encourages improved function within neural connections. This helps to work through the layers of accumulated compensatory issues as the horse learns to trust the combination of touch and guided assisted movements. The benefits of working within the horse’s emotional and physical comfort are apparent in the horse’s improved suppleness of movement, relaxed attitude and injury recovery.

Horses love to move! Training that has tact and consideration for the horse inspires their curiosity and a collaborative enjoyment in shared movement whether it is in-hand or in the saddle. I can show you how to bring elements of movement enhancing education into your training, make tacking up a warm up to your ride and simple ground work to bring you and your horse into an easy state of flow.

My approach is guided by my understanding of Ayurveda and how to apply these insights for their health and happiness. We can discuss different ways of keeping horses that meet their instinctual needs, including diet and herbs to support their health. I offer Innate Botanical Selection and Seasonality sessions, harnessing the principles of zoopharmacognosy to support their innate intelligence to participate in their own healing choices.

Along with her skill as a Practitioner of Masterson Method and her ability to connect with the horse, Laura has an ability to look at issues in the horse from the perspective of a much larger picture. She is very competent and passionate about her work and brings to the table much more than her ability to release tension in specific areas of the horse
